The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and worshipped in the form of a naturally formed Shivalinga inside the cave.
The name “Tapkeshwar” is comes from the hindi word “Tapak” meaning to drip. The Shivling here is unique because water from the top of the cave continuously dropping on the shivling. This phenomenon adds to the mystical charm of the temple, symbolizing the eternal presence of divine energy.

The Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple is a major center of devotion for pilgrims, especially during the festival of Mahashivratri. On this day, thousands of devotees flock to the temple and do prayer to lord shiva for blessings.
