Yes, you can travel in train with a irctc waiting ticket but it depends on which type of ticket do you have physical or an e-ticket. Not possible if you have an e-ticket but there are chances in physical ticket that you can travel if TC(ticket checker) allow you. Physical ticket means ticket you should get from ticket counter.
